Adapted from David McCullough's Pulitzer Prize-winning biography, this lavish seven-part miniseries chronicles the life of Founding Father John Adams, starting with the Boston Massacre of 1770 through his years as an ambassador in Europe, then his terms as vice president and president of the United States, up to his death on July 4, 1826.

There’s an extremely brutal public humiliation and torture scene. When a man goes up to John Hancock and calls him a smuggler, John gets mad and the man goes back into the crowd. The crowd grabs him, strips him of all of his clothes, and covers him in burning hot tar. They then cover him in feathers. It honestly made me feel nauseous just watching it, but it shows how truly brutal life used to be.
