During the film, a woman is dying from heart disease caused by rheumatic fever as a child. Her son witnesses her illness and decline as the film progresses, and is very upset, but eventually comes to terms with the fact that he can’t save her, and they even have a shared moment together where they are both at peace with it. We don’t witness her death.

Ambiguous. A man and woman are married just before the film, and when they arrive at the dig site the woman realizes that her husband is gay. He leaves her behind at one point while traveling with his presumed lover. She is tempted by another member of the party. Eventually she gives him permission to live his life and they separate, before either side relationship is subtly shown onscreen.

A man quickly spits into the dirt a couple of times. After a man is covered in dirt he spits a bit as his mouth is washed out to clean it.

A character is slowly dying from heart disease due to rheumatic fever as a child that weakened her heart’s valves. It’s incurable and she gets weaker as the film progresses.

While not depicted from the point of view of the trapped person, it is possible the landslide that temporarily buries an excavator could trigger claustrophobia. The excavator is rescued but the scene is tense and the outcome is not obvious.

A man notes the size of a large man, in a matter-of-fact way, in the context of the dig site being fragile and can only handle a certain amount of weight. He is somewhat taken aback, but it's mostly because the man is of a lower class yet is speaking frankly to him, and about things that would normally be politely avoided. The large man later jokes about a woman being very small and being grateful that her husband didn’t marry “a piglet”.

An RAF training plane crashes into a river and the pilot dies. Presumably he drowns. (The pilot is not a speaking character.)
A character also mentions that their father drowned several years previous.
