A mythical Egyptian jackal dies if that counts, but it didn't look like a dog, it was gaunt with a more humanoid body and hair, but they called it a jackal. It dies being thrown on a sharp pointy thing but there's no blood as it fades into dust
So much gaslighting! A huge element of the episode “Asylum” (which is a very triggering episode all together) is that the protagonist can’t tell for extended periods of time whether or not the supernatural events of the previous episodes were real, because he’s being convinced by the villain, who takes the form of a doctor in a mental institution, that he’s made everything up to cope with his trauma. Moon knight’s mental illness is used throughout the series by villains to manipulate and gaslight him, he (spoiler) became Moon Knight in the first place because Khonshu found him when he was suicidal and manipulated him into becoming Moon Knight to give him “purpose”
Episode 5 spoilers
Marc is shown to be verbally and physically abused by his grieving mother after his brother dies. She shows up on screen with a belt, but the actual punishment is not shown. She actively verbally abuses him for the audience to hear.
in the opening scene of the first episode a man is shown pouring broken glass into his shoes before putting them on and walking. no blood but there are sounds of crunching glass that gave me the chills. mute, and look away & it should be fine
Steven's teeth are stained with blood when he's jaw is broken in the first episode, but he resolves it quickly. His teeth technically aren't broken as well
In episode 4, Layla kills a mummy by stabbing it in the eye with a lit flare. We see the flare go into the eye socket and burn through to the inside of the skull. This happens right after she crawls across the ledge in the tomb over the dark pit
The teen that Marc holds up by his scarf on the edge of a cliff pledges his allegiance to Amit before he cuts the scarf and willingly falls down the cliff to die. Marc and Steven are horrified. You can see him fall and hear when he hits the ground, but it's not overtly graphic
There's a part where a guy gets his entrails harvested and you briefly see a few of them dropped in an urn but the body is obscured. This was the goriest non-Netflix MCU scene at the time but it's still not excessive given the gore is isolated without much blood.
Episode 4 - References are made to Layla's father, who was killed in an attack Marc was present for.
Episode 5 - Marc's brother Randall died when he was a child. His mother and abuser's death was also a part of this episode.
Layla technically cheats on Marc, who she is married to, when she and Steven kiss even if Steven and Marc share a body because they are individual alters.
multiple bits throughout the show are jump scare-esque. watching muted is helpful, if you feel like there might be a jump scare there probably will be. ——— also, there’s no place to put stuff related to snarling etc. but there are dog whining sounds and snarling at the end of the first episode starting at 37:00 and increasing/worsening for the length of the remaining 4 minutes of the episode
Episode 5 spoilers: The unnamed alter gets a syringe to the neck to sedate him after he begins to threaten the therapist with a sharp pyramid trinket. It's explicitly shown in the show, but lasts no more than a few seconds in main focus
Episode 4 and 5 spoilers: From the end of episode 4 onwards, they are in a mental institution. The show explains that this is because after Marc and Steven died, the afterlife is depicted in a manner the person who died is familiar to. This is because Marc has undiagnosed DID and most likely believes he belongs in a mental ward
The main characters, who are a DID system, are all kind of violent on some level. This isn’t meant to be because of mental illness though, they are superheroes and therefore do a lot of fighting. However, one of the alters, who only appears very briefly, is shown to be more violent then the others, in a way that startles them
EPISODE 5 SPOILERS.
There's a flashback scene where Steven and Marc are in a desert and it shows Marc holding a gun to his chin, but Khonshu intervenes before anything happens.
Both Steven and Marc hit themselves on the head repeatedly with their fists when they’re in uncontrollable states of panic or overwhelm, these episodes occur at least twice
DID is not misrepresented. The original, Marc Spector, had formed an alternate named Steven Grant. Marc the original turned out to be aggressive, but his other is good, so technically there is no evil identity.
The teen that Marc holds up by his scarf on the edge of a cliff pledges his allegiance to Amit before he cuts the scarf and willingly falls down the cliff to die. Marc and Steven are horrified.
Episode 5 spoilers:
Steven goes into a small cave to try and save young Marc and his brother in a memory, this cave becomes very narrow and small while Steven struggles to keep going in
At one point, Marc says to Steven "I'll throw us both off a cliff" as a threat, however it is not portrayed as a serious threat and nothing comes of it
Marc has various guns and there are shots of people that have been... shot. Episode 4 & 5 spoilers: Marc dies being shot by Arthur, you can see the blood in the water from the bullet holes as his body drifts away. Not insanely graphic, but enough to mention
