A U.S. satellite crash-lands near a small town in Utah, unleashing a deadly plague that kills virtually everyone except two survivors, who may provide clues to immunizing the population. As the military attempts to quarantine the area, a team of highly specialized scientists is assembled to find a cure and stop the spread of the alien pathogen, code-named Andromeda.
We see a live dog in a deserted town. We later see that dog barely breathing in the desert. A buzzard is beginning to pick at the dog. We do not see the death directly but it is heavily implied.
Several people die by suicide (it is an effect of Andromeda). At least three by gun, one by setting themself on fire, one by chainsaw, mentions of someone drowning themself.
Flashing lights are shown to cause a seizure in the movie. They might not have the same effect on the audience but they are highly unpleasant and go on for a significant period of time. Caution is recommended.
There is no gaslighting, but several characters are deliberately not told the truth for a large part of the movie. This causes problems that could have been prevented had they been told.
A survivor is said to be an alcoholic. A lead character is addicted to drugs (not specified) and alcohol. He is shown in rehab but later leaves. This character uses drugs in the course of the movie but later swears off them and rejects the offer to smoke marijuana.
Several characters have severe moments of panic just before their deaths. One character has something similar to an anxiety attack for longer than the others but does not die. Mentions of rapid breathing, sounds of rapid breathing and panic.
Nothing sexual and minimal nudity, but several characters are shown covered in soap from the waist up during a decontamination scene. The scene is somewhat extended.
