A child's pet cat is deliberately killed for revenge. It is in the first episode, and is very shocking, although all you see is a dead cat with a rope around its neck. It is very cruel, as we have been led to know how much the girl loves her cat, and it was put into the care of a housemaid said to be trustworthy. The maid is caught trying on the lady's clothes and jewelry, and is fired and told to pack her things. We think that is all she is doing, and only after she goes, does the father find out what she did. The only good thing is, the father lies to the girl and says the cat died peacefully in its sleep. There is an elaborate "cat funeral" scene with the family all dressed and in a procession to bury the cat.
