After the first air raid on the casualty clearing station, when Alice is finally able to get the tent up and into her ward, the first body she finds is one where a shard of wood has been driven into the solider's eye. It is only on screen for a moment, but it is quite shocking.

The show centers around nurses on or near the front lines during World War I. There is a large amount of wounds and bandages. There is no blood splattering or large spurts of gore. There is also no action shots of the wounds happening. Just the aftermath. The most gory items that stuck out to me are listed below with episode numbers.
In Episode 2, there is a brief shot of Syd's major brain injury as the bandages are being changed, where part of his skull is missing and his brain is showing.
In Episode 4, an injury on a solider is shown where the bone is sticking out.
In episode 5, an abscess is lanced on camera. The slicing of the scalpel and draining is shown on camera.
In episode 6 there is the most gore, a dismembered man is shown after an air raid on the hospital. A dismembered leg is shown, and a stick through someone's eye.

There are air raids on the casualty clearing center in episode 6 and occasional explosions from shelling in pretty much every episode. The audio is pretty well mixed that it was not extremely loud to me personally, but could be to others.

There is not needles and syringes in every episode. Specifially in episode 2, there is a large syringe used for penile insertion and smaller syringes shown as well. No insertion of needles into skin is shown on camera and very few injections are given at all. There are many hospital scenes, but there are not IVs and such on all the patients due to the time period.
