No, but if you are playing the game on PC you have access to the Steam workshop with just about an infinite number of easy to install mods that can alter any part of the game. This could be all in good fun like a cat gun that shoots hearts that you pet to reload but there could be mods that are potentially triggering or some that could revert existing triggers. Browse to your hearts content, and enjoy the classic horde shooter we all know and love.
I'd personally say no (the female characters get hurt/killed in the same ways as the male characters). There's nothing story-related, at least—I can't speak for people's personal gameplay or the content you'll see within the fanbase
Besides the fact that all player characters can potentially die, one character MUST die during the Sacrifice campaign. Canonically, it's Bill, and you can find his body during the Passing.
The Special Infected (zombies with specific mutations) will follow the survivors, attack and divide them, and try to pick off anyone that ends up separated.
In one level, a large multitude of dead animals can be seen on the outskirts of a small community. It is difficult/impossible to discern exactly what animals there are, but there are cattle and presumed farm animals
Rochelle will say "some people on the news thought that the infection spread through livestock... I guess they didn't want to take that chance." In reference to dead cattle you see on the map, but that's the extent of what she says.
Kinda. The Jockey is commonly referred to as a "humper"/"head-humper" and there are jokes made about that when any of the male characters get attacked by one.
It's not really dry humping though. It's a tiny zombie grabbing the player's head from behind & using his body weight to tilt them so they'll stumble in a dangerous direction.
The similarities are acknowledged occasionally though, with lines like "It ain't right for a man to be ridden like that.", "That's just offensive, what they do.", & Ellis occasionally calling the jockeys head humpers.
If you’re unlucky, the Tank may toss a dumpster or car at you which is an immediate incapacitation where you may bleed out if your team doesn’t revive you
One of the most common throwing weapons in the game is a Molotov cocktail. Enemies hit with it will flail around and shriek and their bodies will be charred black afterward.
A player must sacrifice themself in the campaign “The Sacrifice”. Canonically it is Bill (you get an achievement for sacrificing yourself as Bill, and his sacrifice is why he is in Dead by Daylight!)
SPOILERS FOR THE SACRIFICE/PASSING
Even though the sacrifice is up to player choice, Bill, Zoey's adoptive father, canonically dies in the sacrifice comic. This is backed up by seeing his corpse in The Passing's generator room outside saferoom 2
Never intentionally; but "pinning" special infected will suddenly switch your POV from first to third person when they pin you. This can be startling if you're not expecting it.
The Boomer special infected makes disgusting stomach noises to alert you when it’s nearby. There is another type of special infected that spits acid at you.
While not described or referenced in the game at all, a very popular/widespread theory is that the smoker had cancer prior to becoming an infected, due to the smoking motif and the tumor-like growths on his body.
While there is no scene during which a character is undergoing any medical procedures, during the No Mercy campaign the group does have to make their way through a hospital and get to its rooftop.
The “Death Toll” campaign has a man in Chapter 3 “The Church” who was bit and locks himself inside the safe house. He has a mental breakdown about being bit, turning, and is paranoid. So paranoid that he rings the church bells to summon zombies to the survivors in an attempt to kill them. He turns into a special infected that you kill to enter the safe room
Nick has a line about the boomer where he says "it's sad that these eating disorders get so bad unchecked" but it's more of a jab at the boomer being fat, and it's unknown if the infected had a disorder prior.
The game was controversial before release for having mostly Black zombies (versus half of the playable characters being white). It doesn’t seem like the game is deemed problematic anymore.
Left rather ambiguous in-game. However, a short comic series that focuses on the first group of survivors paints a bleak picture of what happens when survivors get 'rescued' by the military.
To the point where it pretty much becomes a running joke. A helicopter crashes as well. None of these crashes are seen, however, with the exception of one near the end of the campaign Dead Air and a glimpse during the first map of The Last Stand campaign.
Falling or being pushed into certain bodies of water (most notably on the swamp fever map.) Will instantly kill you; though the survivors are not shown actively drowning/suffocating in the water.
