if you fail certain choices in the game, Garry gets his rose taken by Mary and as you try to find her to get it back Garry slowly loses strength and has to stop and rest. he promises to catch up with you but then becomes unresponsive, and it's clear he will be dead soon because somewhere Mary is plucking the petals from his rose and killing him. you never see him again after that.
