APNE (our people) is a story of a Punjabi family residing in Brampton, dominated by a rigid father. His son ‘Sandy’ has gone through immense emotional stress and has become a drug addict. The story covers significant issues such as mental illness, effects of violent content in modern Punjabi music, inequality of genders and communities, abusive relationships, impaired driving, and most importantly, it raises concerns for immigrants integrating into Canadian society.
