Spoilers but Nagihiko‘s family are celebrated traditional performers and use female garb when dancing. Nagihiko is originally shown dressed in the female uniform because of this. However they have stated that they don’t favor any specific pronouns. Even their guardian characters are representatives of different genders. There is a brief scene where Nagihiko‘s male friends try to show their support by putting on skirts that could be seen as played for comedic effect. However, I think the character is done in a very respectful manner.
