Season 1 offers mostly balanced approach, addressing racism in the force and the way police ignored the crimes against sex-workers and indigenous women untill they were connecting to the disappearance of the white teenage girls from a "good" family. Several antagonists in this season are police officers of different rankings.
However, in season 2, one of the leads, Jenny, returns to work in the police, and the show promptly falls into some of the worst tropes. Jenny ignores orders and rules while investigating; she at least once breaks into the suspects' house without the warrant; she kills a criminal in self-defence, but never reports about that. Jenny acts hostile and agressive towards people she suspects of something without evidence, based on her hunch. She and her boss forge a search warrant when she doesn't have enough evidence to get it lawfully. At the end of the season, she lets go of a dirty cop that killed at least one criminal and severly beaten the suspect, because they had romantic relationship. The new sheriff promises to cover her up, which is framed as a sweet bonding moment. This behaviour is never addressed or called out by her colleagues or friends, only by the season antagonist. All her hunches prove to be right and are never questioned.
The idea that only guilty people ask for a lawyer is reinforced.
Some collectible Victorian dolls are sprayed with blood during a murder. Later the killer decapitates one of the dolls and leaves on the hood of the US Marshall's car.
Dog’s owner killed right in front of him and then left in the woods with dead owner. When the cops find the body the dog isn’t there and isn’t mentioned.
When Cassie and Mark get to Wolf’s ranch close your eyes for a minute or so. The scene ends when Wolf tells them to lower their weapons. After that you can look again. This scene is at the end of the episode with a little less than 5 minutes left.
When Ronald is talking to Erik he mentions locking a cat in the basement and eventually not feeding it to see how long it’d take for it to die. The cat isn’t shown but it is good to be aware. Tubb also has a cat but it is not harmed.
In 3.01, a man slips and falls off the cliff. In 3.02, we see him die of his injuries. Someone who could help the victim, ignores his pleas and waits for him to die.
