How is there not excessive gore? While it is low poly and far from realistic, enemies often are blown to bits, dismembered, decapitated, cut in half etc. The arena is often drenched in blood after a battle. There is an option to turn off gore, it turns off the blood, but enemies still break apart.

Gabriel is an angel that serves the Heavenly Council, there are several mentions of God (ie "Righteous hand of the Father," "The Father's Light," "God is dead," etc.) and terminal entries found after the secret levels are written by God Himself. The main theme of the game as well is a critique on religion and how it oppresses and hurts minorities.
