[SPOILERS] In flashbacks, The last 15 survivors of humanity can be heard dying, amongst which is a gay couple. Okino, who’s homosexual on top of being either Non-Binary or a cross dresser (it isn’t really clear by the game which), dies and winds up in a limbo-like state only being able to communicate to with Hijiyama through his cockpit. He is however freed and brought back to the real world during the ending timeskip. None of these deaths have anything to do with their homosexuality.
