There is a great deal of dodgy consent. There are several times where someone has sex with someone after they have consented but don’t actually want to have sex.

Evelyn is sexualized starting at age 14 or 15. Before she is 18, she is sexually assaulted by boys her own age and grown men. At age 16 she marries a man who is told she is 18 but never questions the signs that she is younger.

Major spoiler: Evelyn is found dead at the end of the book after heavily insinuating that she would take her own life because she wanted to choose her time and method of death. She dies of an overdose

Harry certainly has a drinking problem that is very harmful, but there is no cutting/self-mutilation in this book.

Trauma symptoms in a teenage character who loses her father, limited to changes in behavior. Not necessarily PTSD. Some discussion of the way a person’s body and mind can respond in the moment and in the aftermath when exposed to trauma.

There is a lot of discussion about Evelyn’s attitudes towards her body, and there are some off-putting reflections Monique has about her weight early on in the book.

Not outright said but heavily implied. Not said to manipulate anyone or in distress, just a character’s choice when faced with life threatening physical illness.

Is a minority is misrepresented?

I wouldn’t say misrepresented, more like barely represented at all, at least with regard to racial minorities. The titular character is Cuban but passes for white most of her life. There is a throwaway line about her supporting Marting Luther King, Jr. during the civil rights movement. We find out in the climax that she made it look like a Black man had been driving drunk so she could absolve her white friend who actually did it. The fact that she did this is clearly framed as bad, but she was still extremely cavalier to do this

The ending is hopeful but there is also a feeling of “aftermath” of the revelations Evelyn shared.
