If torture, especially torture done to minors is sensitive to you, please approach every "whale" scene with caution.

It should be noted that Penny is not suicidal -- she does this as a sacrifice to help buy the others more time and to give Winter her powers.

There is a proper epilepsy warning provided before the episode in question -- and the explosion is the first thing that happens in the episode.

When the whale explodes, the city is washed in light that looks very similar to a nuclear blast. In the aftermath, the sky is yellow and there is ash raining down. Later on, another city is threatened with a bomb that is stated to be enough to wipe it out, implicitly a nuke.
