In episodes 3 and 4, it is alluded that Talitha's mother Cressida has been emotionally and sexually abusive, but Cressida tells Cleo that Talitha is a liar and can't be trusted. In episode 5, Talitha details the sexual abuse, and says that she isn't sure if she was a willing participant (though she was 15 and unable to consent) as her mother insisted she enjoyed the parties where the abuse took place and would beg to go. This is confirmed by Cleo to be a tactic of abusers and is treated as gaslighting.

Not shown on screen. in episode 4, during the trial, Lucinda admits that Dylan sexually assaulted her. The trial is quickly halted, but in the next scene Dylan discusses with his mum and lawyer how he initiated sex with Lucinda while she was asleep, and also in a prior incident removed a condom without telling her. He accepts that he did these things, but denies that they are assault as she had previously consented to sex. He repeatedly calls her crazy, and a liar.
