When you have listened to the recordings on Jessalyns phone (Addison gets scared by a spider in the third recording) you will go to the "tea room" to search under the floor boards, when you touch the only board that is clickable a black widow will fall down from the top of your screen. It really is a jump scare weather you are afraid of spiders or not.

Off-screen, prior to the start of the game, Charlotte Thornton dies in a house fire. This is not seen, but is frequently referenced.

Nancy routinely sees Charlotte's ghost, and in one vision, she is seen being consumed by fire (non-graphic). In the endgame, the house is on fire and depending on the player's actions, additional characters can die in this fire. The good ending has no deaths occur, and in the bad endings it is not seen on screen, just mentioned that the house burned down and characters who were last seen inside it were never found and therefore presumed dead

The main premise of the game deals with Nancy investigating a haunted southern mansion, and you see various hauntings and talk to characters about the ghost throughout the course of the game
