A horse is left unattended for a while and is seen severely dehydrated and starving, lying in the stables next to a pile of wastes. The horse is seen healthy and recovered for later in the game (at least in my walkthrough). The result of his neglect is pretty graphic tho.
A character also threatens to kill a cat in various violent ways depending on your choices. The cat is heavily drugged and shot at, but he survives both instances unharmed. They're is mentions of the villain almost drowning a puppy but not shown. The puppy is said to have survived.
Two close call, Veronica threat to kill Petronius, sedates him at some point, and also tries to shoot the cat while it's trapped in a bag but the cat escape, he doesn't die or at least not in my version of events Given the ending, I believe the cat can't die.
The main character's father turns out to be abusive, it's a major plot point.
It is also mentioned at the end that the villain was molested and abused as a baby before being adopted.
The horse did not die in my walkthrough, but it is seen severely dehydrated and starving before you chose to feed him. It's disturbing, but he recovered in my walkthrough.
The horse is left unattended for what's implied to be a week or more before someone finds him. The cat is said to have disappeared, we see him in the ending scene, but it's left unclear if he goes back to his humans.
Someone threatens to torture the main character at some point. I talked him out of it, but I don't know if he goes through with it depending on your choices.
The main character's sister dies in car accident as a baby. We don't see her corpse, but we see the wreckage.
A child is believed to be dead for a good portion of the story, but turns out to be ok.
I put a yes just in case. My character managed to talk the guy out of crushing/cutting off his finger, but I don't know if it could have gone otherwise.
Depending on your choices, you can be unforgiving of lenient towartd Aunt Claire's role in the forceful repression of Ed's traumatic memories, which negatively impacted into adulthood.
Faye jokingly implies she is half Ed's age before their hookup, but the timeline implies they have at least a 12 years age gap if I'm not mistaken. She's 23 when they hook up. Not shocking at first, but the age gap really shines when you see them sharing scenes in flash back when she was 14/15 and Ed's already was a grown man. Ed does not know they're the same person tho.
Veronica is a confirmed psychopath, having killed, threatened or chemically subdued several people/animal in her wake. Eddie's dad is depressed and an alcoholic, and abuses his family.
Veronica is said to have been sexually abused in her very early childhood, which could play a total or partial role in her becoming an abuser depending on how you choose to define her while discussing her case as a therapist at the end of the game.
A secondary character is said to have miscarried in the past. We see the infant's grave with his name, and a whole baby's room decorated with mentions of the baby in heaven, implying the room is a way to cope with the grief.
The main villain is seem harming herself several times in flashbacks.
Detaik:
She hits her ankle several times.
In the psychiatric hospital, in the bathroom, when offered an earring by her friend, she pierces her ear with it.
She sits on a piece of broken glass on purpose, but the wound is not seen, just the blood and a faint scar in a later scene.
