The continuing story of Peacemaker, a vainglorious superhero/supervillain who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill. After a miraculous recovery from his duel with Bloodsport, Peacemaker soon discovers that his freedom comes at a price.
At the beginning of the show, Peacemaker has just gotten out of prison. He was arrested without telling Vigilante and he still kept trying to contact him while he was in jail
I mean kinda, a women is possessed by an alien, she attacks a man in her underwear and is exploded. However the man is also in his underwear. I wouldn't call the violence misogynistic though.
(SPOILERS) In Episode 7 it is revealed that Chris and Keith’s father forced them to fight for entertainment while others placed bets on who would win. This results in Chris accidentally killing his brother.
Not really but at 4:35 a creature comes through a door in the pocket dimension place to dump a dead feline looking creature into a small furnace. It’s only on screen for a few moments
Two dead possums and a squirrel are shown. Other animals die on screen, but their bodies aren’t focused on after the fact. Refer to the “does an animal die” question for more in depth details.
Chris sleeps with Emilia from an alternate universe. He pretends to be from that university and alt Emilia has no idea he isn't. Also his universe Emilia has rejected him. There are major consent issues.
When Vigilante and Peacemaker are captured by Judomaster, Vigilante is tortured. The extent of this is his genitalia being electrocuted and half of his pinky toe being removed. This scene is frequently referenced in following scenes.
There's a flashback in S1 (E3 or 4?) in which a boy sees his brother having a horrible seizure. We know in advance that the brother died, but we don't see it happen. We see more of the seizure in S1 E6+E7, and this time we do see the boy die (but I don't remember in which of the two episodes). Flashback again in E8.
The last we see of Earth-X in the show, Keith Smith is put in intensive care after being beaten to near-death by the 11th Street Kids, but he's still alive.
Characters have a comedic conversation where peacemaker talks about how he used to give all of his childhood friends nicknames based on the shapes of their genitals. It’s not sexual but it’s mildly weird, lol
After accidentally killing his own alternate universe doppelganger in Season 2, Chris tries in vain to wash off the blood from the incident in the shower.
I don't think he was supposed to be a ghost, but rather a depiction of how an abusive parent never leaves your mind when you have PTSD. As a person who suffers from that exact thing, I thought it was an okay depiction.
- Episode 1 - SAFE! - - Episode 2 - SAFE! - - Episode 3 - SAFE! - - Episode 4 - SAFE! a kid foams at the mouth at 43 minutes, but no one vomits. - - Episode 5 - SAFE! at 34 minutes a woman quickly runs after drinking something, but she only spits it back into the cup. - - Episode 6 - SAFE! flashback of the same kid foaming at the mouth at 6 minutes, in addition, a lot of people get possessed by butterflies, which causes them to spit blood violently. - - Episode 7 - SAFE! but again, flashback of a kid foaming at the mouth at 2 minutes. - - Episode 8 - NOT SAFE! economos vomits at 14 minutes after being questioned, at 31 mintues very brief flashback of kid foaming at the mouth. -
There's a non explicit suicide metaphor. Chris leaves for an alternative universe with no intention of coming back. He leaves a note and his friends sob about it.
While not outright confirmed (but acknowledged by the creator), Vigilante is very strongly autistic coded and is often treated as creepy, weird, or an a*****e for not understanding others’ feelings. Not necessarily abuse, but something I as an autistic person found mildly upsetting.
The character Judomaster has a habit of eating snacks noisily. One of the scenes, in which the champing noises are especially loud, had me squirming in my seat and crying out for the scene to be over.
While looking at an xray, Peacemaker is upset that his arm muscles don't look big enough. He asks a doctor if they can take an xray that makes the muscles more pronounced. Peacemaker becomes defensive about the size of his arms when the doctor tells him no.
A sentient bug is kept in a smallish jar over several episodes. S1 E7: Three people are tied to chairs. It doesn't seem to bother them, though. S1 E8: Peacemaker is buried under a ton of rubble.
Vigilante, who’s portrayed as autistic and ambiguously mentally ill, is often insulted by other characters for being weird and “crazy”. Peacemaker mostly. It’s played for laughs and isn’t too harsh. An instance that comes to mind as particularly abliest is in episode two, peacemaker describes vigilante as having “mental issues” to his coworkers
Chris throws an orgy, Adrian gets upset he wasn't invited. Chris sincerely said Adrian didn't seem all that into sex, Adrian agrees he isn't, he only likes it as a way to bond with his best friend Chris.
No, Adrian is a few years younger then Chris (we don't know how many) and they knew each other as kids but they don't sleep together till well in their 30s so I think its fine.
God is mentioned a lot. The White Dragon says how God challenged him with Peacemakers birth. Peacemaker says he believes God put him on earth for a purpose. He also prays to keep his pet alive
There's a brief scene where you see Peacemaker having sex with a woman from the side, both of them completely nude. Following this, there's a scene where Peacemaker is dressed only in his underwear.
Peacemaker lies to Vigilante that he doesn’t cry and this comes back at him when he cries after killing his father, Auggie. There’s an initial misconception that Peacemaker is “doing face exercises” but when Economos tells Vigilante what’s actually happening he shows care. Auggie was also extremely abusive and ridicules Peacemaker for his sensitivity and bisexuality.
S1 E3: Truck violently T-bones car with one person in it, but it isn't fatal. S1 E7: A driving van is knocked on its side by a flying supervillain out of the blue. Not fatal.
