Seeking revenge for the murder of their religious leader, fundamental loyalists kidnap and torture the man they believe responsible, but the ensuing clash of right vs. left ideologies quickly reveals that they may have the wrong man, which puts them on a path toward a shocking twist
*spoilers* already mentioned, but, *YES*, the dog does die! it's quite distressing due to the fact that we spend so much time before the fact with the dog interacting with the main character. the dog is shot point blank in the head with a gun by one of the main kidnappers, sort of off-screen/not graphically visible to the audience, but the sounds of the dog's distress are heard and the reaction of the main character is drawn out and meant to be distressing. it's the start of the even darker tonal shift of the rest of the movie to imply how dangerous/serious the kidnappers really are.
yes, the main character (who is kidnapped and hung up by his neck) has his eyelid cut rather slowly with a knife as a torture technique to get him to talk. no actual eye loss, eye penetration or implied permanent damage, but "yes" still applies here if you're squeamish about eye stuff, imo.
*YES*--a very triggeringly shot scene of cary elwes's character in a fridge tied up and him struggling to escape for multiple minutes is one of the more prominently distressing scenes of the entire movie, imo. lots of screaming and thrashing *and* a good bit of it is shot in a non-cinematic way (a static/almost security camera-esque view inside of the fridge makes up more than half or more of all of the shots) adding to the realistic enclosed feeling of the scene.
*YES* unavoidably so. literally so much of this movie is people screaming in distress or for help or screaming in pain or in fear/sadness/etc. a good majority of it is adult male screaming, muffled by gags and there's not too much female screaming and little to no child or mic-peaking/overly loud ear-piercing screams are present, thankfully. depending on your tolerance or triggers, this *could* potentially be watchable. (also, there's no jumpscare-type screaming, either!) but i'd personally stay away from this movie if screaming bothers you.
