S1E3, a character shares an intimate moment with a love interest, then abruptly leaves. When they return minutes later, the other person left. They are reunited the following day
Darcy's mom is lesbophobic and kicked her out at the end of episode 7. There's one scene with her in this episode, when Tara goes to Darcy's house. Her mum answers the door and says something lesbophobic about Darcy. Later on, Darcy rejoins her friends and is visibly disheveled (from spending the night in the park) and opens up to Tara about her parents.
In s2e7 there is an attempt by an abuser to ask for forgiveness. The survivor sites not forgive and establishes never wanting contact again. This conversation happens with a 3rd party present, who is an established safe person for the survivor.
Not stalked, but someone is walking alone in the dark and has another character, who doesn’t like them, suddenly walk up from behind and verbally confront them.
TW & SPOILERS:
During an arguement Ben and Charlie have, Ben pauses to force Charlie against a wall and make out with him as Charlie asks him to stop. It is brief and lasts for a few seconds before Ben is stopped by Nick.
one character says that others would be better off if he didn't exist/weren't their friend, and he self-isolates because of it. no permanent harm occurs to him or others because of this, though
Whole season 1 is 100% safe, season 2&3 is coming in 2023 and in the book darcy vomits after drinking vodka, she says she feels rlly ill and they tell their teachers then she vomits (idk if it will be in the show)
- an extreme emetophobe
No, but there’s a trans girl called Elle who discusses the transphobia she experienced back when she was in an all boys school. She’s in an all girls school now. No on-screen transphobia in s1 but I thought it was worth mentioning.
In season 2, David (Nick's brother) basically forces Nick to out himself to their dad, also kind of forcibly outs Nick when he goes in Nick's room and sees photos of Nick and Charlie kissing
No, but when characters get really upset or really happy, we see cartoon effects on the screen that are separate from the actual reality of the characters
Most people have said no to this question, but as someone who actually has misophonia, there were some sounds in this show that could potentially bother people who have it. Charlie brushing his teeth and spitting out his toothpaste was a trigger for me, as well as typing sounds and loud cheering sounds at the sports event in the last episode. It all depends on the person!
there's nothing shown or brought up in the show, but a little after the events of the show in the book, charlie is revealed to have anorexia. there's a whole plot about him getting treatment and recovering from the disorder, so if theres ever anymore seasons made this topic will definitely be explored. though nothing is mentioned or shown in the show this far, there are a few moments where charlie is offered food and turns it down, usually by saying he isn't hungry
Cheering at sporting events mostly. There is also a scene in s2e7 where Darcy's mom is screaming at her, but it is muffled by music and we don't hear any actual yelling.
It's flashy during Harry's party especially when the two girls are dancing together in episode 3. There's also flashing lights in the arcade in episode 5
There are a few minor instances of characters being watched without knowing, such as in episode 4, where Tao and Elle watch Nick get asked out by Imogen and tell Charlie about it, and in episode 7, where Ben sees Nick and Charlie holding hands and confronts Charlie about it later.
There is a trans character, and while she is never misgendered or deadnamed on screen, she and other characters mention past deadnaming and bullying at her old school.
Charlie’s nose bleeds after he tries to tackle someone during the first (?) rugby match.
(Later episode) In the scene after Nick’s altercation at the cinema, he has a bit of blood on his tissue.
