Not canonically. The only “death” happening is traditional video game character death. It’s not dramatic (unless it involves drowning), and it’s never graphic. This is the original 1991 game. It’s chill.

The main villain is named Eggman in the original japanese version for resembling an egg (wouldn't really consider that to be that much of a fat joke), but the US version avoids this entirely by just calling him Robotnik.

It’s possible to drown as Sonic cannot swim. This is particularly an issue in Labrynth Zone, which is mostly water.
