Surprisingly enough, yes. By saving the world of the book, Sonic also helps Sharah escape her abusive relationship with Erazor Djinn. Erazor Djinn threatens Sharah, attempts to put curses on her, and at one point, temporarily kills her (though he was trying to kill Sonic.) Even though it’s magical domestic abuse…it’s still domestic abuse and you should know that in advance. I gotta say, though, it’s portrayed with tact, and Sonic does eventually stop Erazor Djinn (in epic fashion, of course) and Sonic takes a moment to try to bring the newly-revived Sharah some comfort before going home.

A couple instances of this, both in the story and in gameplay.
Sonic has a curse put upon him called the Arrow of Judgment. It’s a flaming arrow jutting out of his chest, it causes him pain if he touches it, the flame gradually gets closer to his skin, and as it does so, he gets more tired - but while it is said that it would kill him if it gets all the way down, it never gets that bad.
During gameplay, there are enemies that breathe fire at him, and this can, of course, cause you to lose rings or game over. Sonic does sound pained when this occurs but it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
Finally, I should mention Darkspine Sonic. This is actually pretty cool, and cathartic after all the trials and tribulations Sonic goes through, but technically, this does qualify as someone being burned. Sonic absorbs the World Rings of Rage, Sadness, and Hatred, and you can hear him scream as he turns into Darkspine Sonic, so it’s clearly painful for him, but he then is able to make and control fire, and uses his pyrokinesis to fight Erazor Djinn. So it’s worth it.

No but Sonic makes a comment worrying that the World Rings could hypothetically “open up the gates of Hell!” This doesn’t happen, though, it’s just something Sonic worried about briefly.
