One enemy that can be fought and beaten is the result of a dog and a plant being fused. This enemy can instead be befriended and recruited as a companion, or just avoided altogether by making different choices.
This game is a parody of cosmic horror, so this is bound to come up occasionally. Like everything else in the game, it's handled in a very light, tongue-in-cheek way.
SPOILERS
In order to prevent the villain's ultimate plan, a character uses a device to interfere with the villain's machines. They know that this may result in their death or a fate even worse, but do so anyway.
In one area based on a university campus, the player has a chance to encounter enemies based on stereotypical bullies. If they lose the fight or surrender, they are beaten up. Additionally, in one dream sequence the player comes across a memory of their childhood bully, who knocks all of their teeth out. As this is a dream it has no real consequences and the player character barely bats an eyelid.
Multiple animals are used in genetic experiments during one possible side story, with most being heavily implied to have a very bad outcome. This is not depicted, but the one successful experiment is. This one seems unharmed by its experiences and still acts like a normal animal with obvious physical differences.
Some shoes cause the player character to make a specific noise with each step (percussion, the sound of an instrument, etc.)
These shoes are not mandatory.
In the beginning you will get called a pronoun (probably dependent on the avatar you choose) with the option to correct them to be called a she/he/they. Very LGBT friendly game.
