Spoiler: the woman who has borderline and is obsessed with the main protagonist, kills the and cooks (as in, boil) the daughter's rabbit. The daughter's mother (not the obsessive woman) finds the rabbit dead and bloody in a saucepan.
Just like most of us with BPD, we hurt ourselves (oftentimes cutting) to prevent/manipulate someone into staying when we become completely desperate when we think they're leaving us. We feel as though our whole life is falling apart. So, threats of suicide or acts of/treats of self harm, is very common. Alex is a textbook case of someone suffering with BPD, so she does everything that's predictable.
Dan’s wife breaks her arm in a car crash. You see the arm in a sling later, but you don’t see when the injury occurs aside from the car accident itself.
Alex self harms in the first half of the movie, and the bleeding cuts are shown for an extended period of time while Dan attempts to staunch the bleeding. I had to turn the movie off before the scene even ended.
No. But Alex cuts herself, faking a suicide attempt. She did so to guilt trip the main protagonist into staying in her life. She didn't actually try to kill herself. She just made him think she did.
Alex calls the protagonist homophobic slurs. The protagonist and his friend make fun of Japanese people bowing and their language, but this is not exactly hate speech.
