Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
TV Show • 1995 • Drama
ReportHercules: The Legendary Journeys is a television series, filmed in New Zealand and the United States. It was produced from 1995, and was very loosely based on the tales of the classical Greek culture hero Heracles. It ran for six seasons, producing action figures and other memorabilia as it became one of the highest rated syndicated television shows in the world at that time. It also gained a cult following along with its spin-off, Xena: Warrior Princess.
It was preceded by several TV movies with the same major characters in 1994 as part of Universal Television's Action Pack: in order, Hercules and the Amazon Women, Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, Hercules and the Circle of Fire, Hercules in the Underworld, and Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur, the last of which served mostly as a "clip show" of the previous movies as a lead up to the series.

In S1 Ep 3 there are sand pits that are basically quick sand. It's very Princess Bride. Naturally, Hercules saves the people who go under.

In season 2 episode 21 Hercules and Jason end up trapped inside a sea serpent. In order to get out, Hercules says that they need to attack the spinal column. They do, and this causes very bad flashing lights for what felt like a few minutes (since it was longer due to switching scenes to what was happening outside the serpent where the lighting was fine and then suddenly switching back to inside the serpent with flashing lights). Once they start attacking the spinal column it's not really safe to look until the sea serpent is dead. The lights are very bright, very flashy. I was wearing sunglasses and closing my eyes for parts of it and I still got a migraine.
