In an attempt to free himself from a state of forgotten limbo, evil dream-demon Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) devises a plan to manipulate un-dead mass murderer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzenger) into slicing-and-dicing his way through the teenage population of Springwood. But when the master of dreams loses control of his monster, a brutal fight to the death is the only way out in this long anticipated crossover between two of modern horror's most notorious killers!
This movie contains 64 potentially triggering events.
Jason was abused as a boy by his fellow campers and the supervising adults failed to help him or prevent his drowning. He returned to life as a hulking, quasi-immortal killer to murder anyone at Camp Crystal Lake.
There is a part where Lori dreams that she being gaslit by her friends. Also, her father is a liar. The adults gaslight the teenagers in town for their own good as to forget Freddy Krueger exists and therefore no one dreams about him.
It's not said out right, but a character is seen smoking a cigarette, when asked if see had quiet she says " I only smoke when I drink" which her friend replies with, "but you're always drinking" to me this implies that she has an addiction.
Jason is injected with huge amounts of tranquilizers. Patients at a mental hospital are medicated against their consent to the point some of them overdose and go into a coma.
Yes, a lot. Both Freddy and Jason have sharp weapons, Freddy especially uses his to cut others. After a certain point, a main character is constantly shown with cuts from Freddy.
A man is decapitated early in the film. It looks like he is fine until his head falls off. Jason chops off Freddy's head and carries it around at the very end of the movie.
In the montage of past Freddy films at the beginning of the movie, there is a ton of body horror. Freddy transforms his body in hideous ways, peels off his own skin, elongates himself and various other gross tricks. Jason's decayed body with his organs exposed is also pretty horrific. Many of the murders throughout the movie also have graphic body horror elements, like a man basically folded in half.
Not squashed, but a head does sever itself/fall off as a jumpscare. Blood dramatically spurting from the neck is seen. The head is then held, blood-side up. This happens 20 minutes in. 0:20:17 to 0:20:28. There's a second beheading near the end at 1 hour 28 minutes, more graphic than the first. 1:28:16 - 1:28:24. It's done in slo-mo, you'll still be able to understand what happened if you choose to skip those few seconds. The head itself is seen from 1:28:30 to 1:28:37. Same head is seen carried in the following minute, the end of the film. It's not bloody anymore though, so I wouldn't call it graphic even for the more squeamish.
A character has a dream where she stumbles upon a little girl with bloody, empty eye sockets. Look away when you see the back side of a little girl slumped over on a hospital floor. You can look back when you hear her sing "1, 2, Freddy's coming for you". It happens within the first 20-30 minutes and lasts about 90 seconds.
During the dream sequence with the stoner and the bad CGI caterpillar, there are rows of patients with gauze taped over their eyes. One patient's gauze is soaked with blood.
Cops are some of the protags and we’re expected to empathize with one of them for 1) shooting unnecessarily and hitting his partner and 2) letting the serial killer go free because he felt bad for him. Sympathy in this movie is misplaced.
This entire film is misogynistic and women are objectified throughout. Many scenes of topless women (I don’t mind nudity but this is very male gaze-y), and Freddy is very disrespectful to women in general. In one scene he is seen fucking a dead woman and making a joke about it. He also refers to the black girl protagonist as “dark meat”.
Freddy has sex with a corpse. It seems at first like two camp counselors are having sex, but then one turns into Freddy and the other is obviously limp and dead. A man attempts to sexually assault a woman but Jason kills them both.
