This May not quite fit the description, but there is an episode where a mother is compelled by magic to commit suicide, leaving her teen daughter alone and parentless.
Episode "Souichi's Beloved Pet": a cat has a rope tied around its neck like a noose and he gets pulled by it. The cat then gets cursed and starts behaving violently and looking demonic. If it helps, the cat is clearly voiced by a human pretending to make cat sounds, so it's not realistic. The only really upsetting part is seeing the cat pulled around by a noose but it is brief.
Episode "Tomb Town": right after the three friends are outside the hospital, a dead cat is seen lying in the road. It is bloody. You don't see it die, but the characters assume it was hit by a car.
The act itself is not shown, but in the episode "Alley" a girl discusses how she killed some children by locking them in a small underground hatch and leaving them there.
[SPOILERS]: At the the of episode "Tomb Town" it shows several empty pill bottles and three gravestones, implying that a family all committed suicide by overdosing.
Maniac is an adaptation of comics, in which jumpscares don’t really work. However, there are many disturbing images, but anticipation is used in all cases.
No, but in the episode "Souichi's Beloved Pet", a cat somehow gets electric shock powers and he uses them to shock a man and he is seen and heard screaming in pain (he lives)
Episode "Layers of Terror" shows a woman use a box cutter to cut down the side of her face. It is not done for the purpose of self-harm, but the imagery could be upsetting.
[SPOILERS]: Episode "Whispering Woman" is about a girl who has a severe mental illness where she cannot act without being told exactly what to do. She is manipulated by her caretaker to violently kill a man.
[SPOILERS]: Episode "Long Hair in the Attic" has a horrible sound of teeth grinding, it happens several times after the long-haired woman dies since it's the sound her ghost makes.
Suicide is a constant theme throughout the series. Though the suicides are usually implied, they are sometimes shown and I would not recommend this series if you are very sensitive to the topic of suicide.
Sort of? There is a scene where a news reporter is reporting on the plethora of floating heads with bodies attached to them. His own floating head approaches him and the camera is sort of shaky while panning to it.
Episode "Tomb Town" is all about fatal car accidents. In the beginning of the episode, a girl is hit by a car and dies. You do not see the impact of the hit, but you see her bloody body afterward. People and animals getting hit by cars is mentioned throughout the episode.
